c.95d8 Crip Space Workshop Series: [Traces of Pain: Elusive yet Ubiquitous?] A Creative Indexing Workshop on Chronic Pain and Fatigued Bodies
💡 Why this event?
The invisibility of chronic pain and fatigue often brings the deepest sense of isolation. But does pain really leave no trace? Medical laboratory reports with lingering question marks, screenshots of clinic waiting times, half-filled disability allowance forms, or worn-out shoe soles—these are not waste; they are the "living evidence" of our coexistence with pain.
We are not seeking a "cure" here. Instead, we want to co-create a mutual surface. The issue lies not in measuring pain, but in how mainstream society and medical institutions dictate whose traces actually "count." This workshop is not just a private support group; it is a gentle resistance: allowing pain to "leak" and be perceived, while reclaiming the neglected systems of daily living and survival networks.
🎨 What are we doing this time?
Navigating between intuition and logic, alternating between lightheartedness and reflection:
- Breathing Exercises + Myofascial Release (MFR): Using fascia balls to experience softness and tenderness (not as a "treatment," but to gain awareness of how daily systemic structures leave stress on our bodies).
- Creative Indexing: Utilizing movements and everyday objects to convey pain, mapping the interaction between societal systems and the physical body.
- Circle Discussion: Can "traces" truly be communicated? When it fails, what is missing?
💛 Please bring 2 to 3 "objects carrying traces of your pain." Items that have kept you company, with no need for visual neatness—they can be past sick leave certificates, worn-out rehabilitation cushions, old sports gear, faded fidget toys, screenshots of waiting numbers, or half-empty medicine packaging. Please obscure any sensitive private information, and do not bring items you are uncomfortable being touched or handled.
💛 We deeply respect the immediate adjustments your body may need. Throughout the workshop, lying down, resting, or spacing out at any time is completely permitted and welcomed.
🙋♂️ Who should join?
- Individuals (or those close to them) who have lived experiences with chronic pain/fatigue (including diverse bodymind conditions).
- Those trying MFR for the first time, or who love exploring non-binary feelings and thoughts.
- Friends who are open to communication and interested in exploring tactile, sensory, and visual expressions.
