🗨️ "This is an evening to watch a movie, chat, have a drink 🍷, and just chill in our crip/queer universe—have a nice evening & chill!"
Film Sharing 📽️ Shunji Iwai's Undo (1994)
[Japanese with English subtitles]
Using "binding" as an emotional metaphor, the film presents a psychological, magical-realist portrayal of the subtle alienation and morbid attachment within romantic relationships. Through an evocative, poetic, and dreamlike visual style, it captures the tangled, inescapable isolation and anxiety of love.
As a husband becomes increasingly estranged from his wife due to being buried in work (alienation), she develops a psychological condition known as "Obsessive Bind Syndrome." To hold onto her husband's heart and seek a sense of security, she begins asking him to bind her with ropes. As gentle love gradually distorts and pushes toward extremes, the two navigate this unravelling relationship to question the essence and redemption of love.

What is Love?
As we step into the diverse universe of gender, body, neurodivergence, and relationships, what does a pluralistic (Diversity) view of love look like?
Instead of default relationship-advice clichés (like jumping straight to "suggesting a breakup" or basic internet memes), and without blindly bursting romantic pink bubbles or getting lost in toxic, tragic emo-loops—let's try to talk about love and relationships with kindness and maturity. Let's discuss the emotional growth we've experienced, the building and shattering of safety and trust, the cumulative understanding of shared days, and how to love others while learning self-love. Let's learn to handle each other's emotional needs with care ❤️🩹
