A space, slowly taking its shape.
Starting from an empty unit, we moved things around, measured, discussed, and tested, thinking about how a space could be more than just "barrier-free"—how it could work for different bodies and be transformed in various ways.
Over the past six months, we collaborated with crip artists and hosted 30 workshops right here.
Bodies, time, senses, care, art, the city… Each gathering brought something new into this room.
For this exhibition, we are bringing together:
— The development of the project and the making of the space
— Documentation from 30 workshops led by crip artists
— Outcomes from co-creation workshops organized by us and developed with artists
— Personal reflections from us and participating artists
— Furniture prototypes and design sketches
— Ideas and experiments that remain unfinished and open for transformation
This is not a "finished" space.
It is a space that has been used, modified, sat in, lain in, waited in, gotten tired in, and started again.
Come take a look. You might see a room, a piece of furniture, a sketch, or traces left by a workshop. Or maybe, you will get a sense of how a space slowly learns to accommodate us together.
