BODY IN MY NATURE: TRANS PHOTOGRAPHY SHARING

If "nature" isn't a fixed destination, but a fluid space of returning, drifting, and reimagining, how do we understand our bodies?

Body in My Nature features trans artists Liam and Bom alongside photographers Verena and Carol. Drawing from two collaborative artistic pairs, they reflect on the complex relationships between the body, gender, nature, and the visual image.

For trans individuals, "nature" does not equal "innate," nor does biology dictate destiny. Bodies can be altered, reshaped, and re-perceived; identity does not need to be a finalized, static answer.

  • A Body Wandering, Looking Across the Shore (凝望對岸的遊離之軀): Starting from his lived experience as a trans man, Liam uses photography and live performance to document bodily perceptions before and after gender-affirming surgery—from viewing the body as a cage to gradually finding ways to coexist with it through confusion, searching, and reconciliation.
  • Wounded Coexistence: Bom and Carol extend their gaze beyond the human body. Featuring a queer, non-binary body post-top surgery encountering an old, illegally felled vine, the work uses plastic arrows, yarn, and soil to touch, entangle, and mend. The body's wounds mirror the tree's scars, reflecting on the contradictory relationships between human and plant, city and environment, injury and survival.

Key Questions for Discussion:
— How does photography allow us to re-perceive our bodies?
— How is trust built between the photographer and the subject?
— How can we connect trans, trans-species, and trans-media perspectives?
— How do we embrace and coexist with fragile bodies and wounds?
